Torah Fund puska, or...Donations to CBS

A donation to Congregation Beth Shalom is a wonderfully appropriate way to celebrate a life cycle event, to honor or commemorate the life of a loved one, or simply to acknowledge and express appreciation for the benefits CBS brings to your life.

There are many worthy purposes for which you may make monetary gifts. These may include gifts in support of general operation of our synagogue (General Operating Fund), special purpose funds such as Building Fund or purchase of prayer books, and gifts dedicated to special projects.

Below are a few ways to give to our Congregation.

  • Donate a Sanctuary Chair. These chairs for our new building will include a brass donor nameplate with your inscription. Each chair is $250. One or more chairs may be purchased at a time.
  • The High Holy Day Appeal is the Synagogue’s annual solicitation of funds to supplement our dues so that we may meet our operating needs.
  • The Tree of Life is a beautiful brass tree of leaves donated to the Synagogue, which highlights joyous events in the lives of our members, their families and friends. Leaves may be dedicated for $180 which includes the engraving.
  • Memorial Plaques may be purchased to honor the memory of a loved one for $360 , These brass plaques will be on display at the High Holiday Services.
  • Yahrzeit - It is customary to make a donation to one of the Synagogue funds on the anniversary of the death of a loved one.
  • Etz Hayim Humash or the High Holiday Mahzor - You might wish to dedicate one of the new Humashim or High Holy Day prayer books in honor, in dedication, or in memory of a loved one. Etz Hayim - $75 and Mahzor Hadash for $36. Please contact Sylvia Tarshis to take care of these donations.
  • Sponsorship of Oneg Shabbat. You may wish to honor a friend or member of your family on a special occasion by sponsoring a Friday evening Oneg or a Saturday morning Kiddush reception. Prices will vary from detail, anticipated quantity, and selection offering. Please contact Kay Goldstein to handle your request.
  • Special Purpose portions of the synagogue enable an individual to make a donation to these areas. Some of these include:
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund • Hebrew School Fund • Torah Fund • Prayer Book Fund • Building Fund • Bima Cover and other adornments • Trees for Israel and many more

Bima Cover Donations Requested
The synagogue recently received several newly made bima covers. These are for holidays and special occasions. Susan Weilein made these beautiful covers for the congregation to use and enjoy. If you would like to sponsor one of the three new bima covers, a donation of $500 or more will be accepted. We will have your name(s) embroidered on the cover for this synagogue donation. Call Michael Weilein at (909) 391-6862 if you are interested.
